ABOUT THE CWC LOGO

The CWC Logo consists of two parts:

THE LEMNISCATE

A lemniscate is a plane curve with a characteristic shape, consisting of two loops that meet at a central point as shown below. The curve is also known as the lemniscate of Bernoulli.

In the (x,y) plane, the lemniscate can be described in terms of the following general equation:

(x2 + y2)2 = a2(x2 - y2)

where a represents the greatest distance between the curve and the origin. There are two points on the curve that meet this criterion; both of them lie on the x axis. In the above graph, if each division represents one unit, then a = 5.

The lemniscate, reduced in size to that of typographical characters, is commonly used as the symbol for infinity, or for a value that increases without limit.
Based on a lemniscate, which is a mathematical formula, a three dimensional graphic was drawn. Then, after a small horizontal rotation, a two dimensional figure was obtained on which the graphic is based.

The idea of a lemniscate is derived from a number of observations:

INFINITE

The lemniscate is the sign for infinity in science and mathematics.  Graphically a lemniscate is also infinite, like a circle. However, it can break out into an endless winding. It represents the –more or less- infinite life of composites.

TWO PARTS OF TWO SIDES

The two sides of the lemniscate represent the two essential components of composite materials: fibers and resins.

CROSSING

Where it crosses, the lines of the winding lemniscate show a pattern, which is similar to a fiber reel, also called a “cheese”.

THE SLOGAN:

The slogan must express some extra v/s traditional materials. Therefore “Composed with” and not “made with”. There is emotion in the word “Composed” v/s “Made” or “Manufactured”.

Also, the alliterate words "Composed" and "Composites" are a perfect language match and are expressing what is meant.
